A Lifesaving Journey: How Transport Volunteers Helped Momma AOL Find Safety

We often find ourselves facing heart-wrenching situations where animals in need require urgent assistance. One such instance involved Momma AOL, a heavily pregnant dog who found herself in a precarious situation at the shelter.

Arriving as a "stray" with no microchip and on the brink of giving birth, Momma AOL captured the hearts of shelter volunteers who recognized the imminent danger she and her babies faced. They reached out to us, and without hesitation, we agreed to take her in.

However, our plans hit a roadblock when the shelter refused to release Momma AOL, citing the slim possibility of someone reclaiming her as a stray. Determined to provide her with a safe and welcoming environment to give birth, we pleaded with the shelter, emphasizing that our goal was simply to offer her respite from the stressful shelter environment.

After days of persistent advocacy, our efforts paid off, and the shelter finally relented. But the journey was far from over. Thanks to the dedication of our incredible transport volunteers, Momma AOL embarked on a lifesaving journey to reach us just in time.

Volunteers from various locations came together to ensure Momma AOL's safe passage. From the drivers who escorted her to the airport in Fresno to Captain, the pilot who flew her from Fresno to San Jose, and the final leg of the journey where another volunteer met her and drove her to our rescue, each step was a testament to the power of teamwork and compassion.

Thanks to the collective efforts of these amazing individuals, Momma AOL arrived safely in our care, ready to welcome her puppies into the world. Her story is a poignant reminder of the incredible impact that transport volunteers have in saving lives and giving animals like Momma AOL a second chance at happiness.

As we reflect on Momma AOL's journey, we're reminded of the vital role that transport volunteers play in our rescue efforts. Their willingness to go above and beyond to ensure the safety and well-being of animals in need is truly inspiring.

If you're moved by Momma AOL's story and want to make a difference in the lives of animals like her, consider signing up to be a transport volunteer. Your support can help us continue to save lives and give animals the chance they deserve. Together, we can make a difference, one journey at a time.
