Mission Statement

To provide compassionate care, support, and a second chance for pregnant and nursing dogs and cats, while actively working to combat overpopulation in our community. We are dedicated to ensuring the well-being of these vulnerable animals, promoting responsible pet ownership, and creating a sustainable future where every animal has a loving home.

Our primary focus is on pregnant and nursing dogs and cats, recognizing the unique challenges they face and the critical care they require. We provide a safe haven where they can experience a peaceful and nurturing environment during this crucial period of their lives. Through comprehensive medical care, nutritious diets, and a team of dedicated volunteers, we strive to give them the best chance at a healthy pregnancy, successful delivery, and thriving offspring.

Alongside our commitment to pregnant and nursing animals, we are equally committed to addressing the urgent issue of overpopulation and sick/injured animals. We believe that prevention is the key to reducing the suffering of countless animals. We actively promote and facilitate spaying and neutering initiatives within our community, working collaboratively with local veterinarians and organizations to make these services accessible and affordable. By addressing overpopulation at its root, we strive to create a future where no animal is left abandoned, neglected, or euthanized due to a lack of resources or care.

We also recognize the importance of education and outreach in achieving our goals. Through community engagement we aim to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership, the benefits of spaying and neutering, and the value of adoption. By empowering individuals with knowledge and understanding, we hope to foster a culture of compassion and empathy towards animals, creating a society where every dog and cat is cherished as a beloved member of a forever family.

With unwavering dedication, compassion, and a collaborative approach, HDBnQ Rescue strives to make a lasting impact on the lives of pregnant and nursing dogs and cats, while actively working towards ending overpopulation. Together, we can build a future where every animal is given a chance to thrive, where love and care are abundant, and where the bond between humans and animals is celebrated and cherished.

Daisy

Head Foster Mom

Daisy was rescued from China where she was bred for the china meat trade. She is now a PSD and helps to acclimate fosters from streets/shelters to the home setting. She is calm, gentle and gives the foster babies space that also allows them to have exposure to being around dogs so they can become more well rounded. She is super tolerant of all types of dogs and cats. She is the best foster dog mom there is.

Melissa

HBIC aka President

It all started with Melissa’s love for animals. As a child she would visit the SF Animal Care and Control and pretend to adopt a different cat every week just to be able to play with them. She practiced in the animal medical field since the summer of 2005. Her career began as an Animal Care Attendant in shelter med and worked her way up to Anesthesia Surgery Tech at specialty hospitals. She started Hella Dam Bitches n Queens Rescue after switching careers to the human medical field but still needed to fill that void.
